The North of England Koi Show 2026

Better Late Than Never!
I’m a little late to the party with this one! No sooner had the North of England Koi Show wrapped up than it was time to pack the bags and head across the water for the Holland Koi Show, so it’s taken me a little longer than usual to get the results edited and online. It’s certainly been a busy few weeks in the koi world!
Back to the North of England, though, and once again the team delivered an incredibly well-organised and enjoyable weekend. There’s always a really friendly atmosphere at this show, and this year was no exception. Everyone seemed in high spirits; there was plenty of chatting going on around the vats and trade stands, and the whole weekend ran with the calm efficiency we’ve come to expect from the team.
Footfall, unfortunately, remains something of a challenge. It’s never going to attract the visitor numbers of some of the larger shows further south, but that’s also precisely why I think it’s an important fixture on the UK calendar. For hobbyists across the North of England, and particularly those travelling down from Scotland (of whom there were plenty), it provides an opportunity to enjoy another koi show on the calendar without having to trek halfway across the country!
Ultimately, though, shows need people through the doors to survive, and I’d certainly encourage anyone who hasn’t made the journey before to give it a go next year. The team put an enormous amount of work into creating a polished, well-managed event, albeit on a smaller scale, and there’s always a lovely group of people behind it. It deserves to be supported. Congratulations, as always, to the organisers, volunteers, judges, sponsors and exhibitors who made the weekend possible, and apologies for keeping you all waiting for the photographs!
